Gonda: The third phase of a five-day training programme for primary-level teachers of the Jhanjhari development block in Gonda district began at Jigar Memorial Inter College in the city, in accordance with departmental directives.
The training programme was inaugurated by Dr Samay Prakash Pathak, Block Education Officer, Jhanjhari/Nagar/Headquarters, who formally opened the session by garlanding the portrait of Goddess Saraswati and lighting the ceremonial lamp. The programme began with Saraswati Vandana.
Addressing the participants, Dr Pathak said that strengthening the quality of learning at the primary level is essential for ensuring the long-term success of children. He described primary education as a milestone in a child’s educational journey and urged all teachers to make every possible effort to achieve the learning outcomes envisaged under the NIPUN Bharat Mission.
Richha Singh, Academic Resource Person for English and one of the trainers, explained that the training has been designed in line with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and the NIPUN Bharat Mission. It focuses on equipping teachers with effective methods to teach children aged three to nine years basic reading, writing and foundational mathematics, including concepts such as addition and subtraction.
She said teachers are being introduced to innovative play-based teaching methods, the use of age- and learning-level-appropriate Teaching-Learning Materials (TLM), and techniques for monitoring children’s learning progress.
Singh further informed that 100 teachers are being trained in two classes during each phase of the programme. The overall training programme will be conducted in six cycles, aimed at strengthening foundational literacy and numeracy among children at the primary level.
The initiative is expected to help teachers adopt child-friendly and activity-based teaching practices while improving the quality of foundational education in primary schools across the development block.
